About Peterlee Town

Named after a man, Peter Lee, whose vision it was to see a better way of life for the residents in the villages of County Durham, it has been written that since the designation of Peterlee on 10th March, 1948, the town has developed into one of the North East’s success stories.

The town has seen considerable change in the last few years, with the re-location of many of its public buildings to accommodate a £24 million town centre redevelopment.

One of the outstanding features of the Town, however, remains its large open green spaces which are admired by all who visit the Town.

We hope to see you soon!!
